PHOENIX DANCE classes are designed to help you become a better dancer in the club and/or performer on stage.
The classes are divided in different levels according to previous experience. In the classes, we will focus on:
- Timing
- How to dance to different Latin rhythms from the beginning steps all the way toadvanced levels (Merengue, Bachata, Salsa, Cha Cha, and Rumba)
- Gain better control of your body as you dance
- Becoming a Performer
- Become a top lead and follow on the dance floor

All students should start in Beginning level of Salsa & Cha Cha. New York Style Mambo is different than other styles of salsa. Remember that understanding the basics is the most important and if you move up to fast, you will be missing out on vital training to help you become a great dancer.
Beginning Salsa for the Club (Level 1)
(Recommended time to take this class is twice a week for five weeks)
In this course you will learn from the beginning steps Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha, and Salsa (on “2” New York Style). You will learn the necessary steps and body movements from the very beginning. We will also teach the technique for both the men and women to be prepared for dancing in the club. We will introduce basic shines (steps without partner) that are fun and easy to learn for the club as well
Beginning Salsa & Cha Cha (Level 2)
(Recommended time to take this class is twice a week for five weeks)
This course will introduce basic Body Isolation exercises to help you develop better control of your body, and timing within the music. You will further develop your skills as leaders and followers by learning basic and fun turn patterns for the club. We will introduce basic shines (steps without partner) that are fun and easy to learn for the club as well. At the end of this course we guarantee that you will be enjoying yourself and feeling comfortable on the dance floor at the club!
Intensive Afro Cuban Body Movement & Technique Course
(ALL LEVELS Welcome)
Want a great workout, and develop necessary skills to become a great Salsa Dancer? Join us for an intensive session of Afro Cuban Body Movement exercises. Followed by spinning exercises to help you develop as a great spinner. You will develop overall better balance, technique, and body control within this course.
Intermediate Salsa and Cha Cha
(Recommended time to take this class is 10-20 Weeks)
This class is for intermediate dancers. You should understand timing “on 2”, and all the basic technique that is taught within Beginning Salsa Level 1, and Level 2. The class is broken up into two hours:
The first hour includes a warm up of Body Isolations to help improve the movement, and control of your body. This hour also includes intermediate mambo and cha cha shines, and shines emphasizing Afro-Cuban body movements. The shines will also teach men and women how to style while dancing to Latin music.
The second hour is spent on becoming better leaders and followers. The class begins with spinning exercises to develop balance and to learn the proper technique in spinning. Followed by turn patterns with men’s and lady’s styling taught to help develop the techniques to become great leaders and followers for social dancing.
Performance Course
(10 Week Course)
Always dreamed of becoming a performer? This is your opportunity to find out what it takes to be a Phoenix Dance Performer. During the ten-week course you will learn a choreographed routine, and be given the opportunity to perform it in front of an audience if you choose at the end of the course.
THIS COURSE IS FOR INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED DANCERS. YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN BEGINNING SALSA 1 & 2, INTERMEDIATE SALSA, AND INTERMEDIATE AFRO-CUBAN BODY MOVENT & TECHNIQUE COURSE.
